Building Sustainable Livelihoods
The AMSHA Community Project was a successful livelihood and agricultural initiative that significantly improved food security, incomes, agricultural knowledge, and organizational capacity within Nakivale Refugee Settlement. Beyond achieving many of its targets, the project strengthened KBTN as an organization by improving governance, partnerships, and sustainability. The experience demonstrated that community-led approaches, organized savings groups, climate-smart agriculture, and strong stakeholder collaboration are effective strategies for building long-term resilience among refugee and host communities.
